One of the Solar Festivals that we celebrate, also known as Midsummer or Summer Solstice. It generally takes place on or around the 21st June. This is the day when the Sun is at it’s highest in the sky and it is the longest day and shortest night.

We celebrate the return of the Horned God in the heat of the summer sun. We focus outwards, experiencing the joys of plenty. Taste the first fruits of the season. The air is filled with male energy, and the focus of spells should be around the male aspects of your life, such as business. The Oak King rules for the following six months and from this day onwards, the days begin to become shorter.

Litha is also known as:
Alban Heruin (Druidic), Feill-Sheathain (Pecti Wicca).

From this day onwards, the days begin to get shorter again.

For followers of the fairy faith, this is when the fae are most active – in fact, last year, when I was at Thornborough Henge for Midsummer, I saw a multitude of the little people around (and no, I wasn’t tripping lol!). It is a good idea to leave out offerings of sweet fun foods and drinks for them! Of course, the next doors cat probably ends up eating most of it!
